Turks throw Tugay out of Euro 2000

First Published: Jun 20, 2000

Turkey have thrown Glasgow Rangers midfielder Tugay out of their Euro 200 in a row about a substitution in last night's 2-0 win over Belgium in Brussels.

The victory saw Turkey reach the last eight of a major finals for the first time but Tugay was dumped by coach Mustafa Denizli after a 37th minute substitution for the Rangers player saw an angry response after the game from the Rangers star.

Tugay now misses the quarter final in Amsterdam on Saturday against Portugal after he was asked to leave the team hotel and return home.
