Gaucci to let Cosmi go in exchange for UEFA Cup place

Perugia's flamboyant president Luciano Gaucci said he is ready to let his coach Serse Cosmi leave to join a more prestigious club if he guides the Umbrian team into Europe next season.

Perugia are currently ninth in Serie A and have qualified for the semi-finals of the Italian Cup.

"If Sensi takes us into the UEFA Cup I am prepared to release him so he can join a bigger club," Gaucci told Thursday's edition of Gazzetta dello Sport.

"It could be Roma, but Inter too could offer him the opportunity he deserves."

Cosmi, 44, is one of the most sought-after coaches in Italy but has a contract with Perugia until 1996.
