Eggen secures move to Rangers

First Published: Jan 31, 2003

Norwegian international defender Dan Eggen has secured a move to Scottish club Rangers from Alaves, the Spanish league side announced here.

Eggen has been with Alaves in the Basque country since 1999 but has fallen out of favour since last season.

The 33-year-old veteran, who has also played with Celta Vigo and Danish side Brondby, had a trial with Rangers at their recent training camp in Dubai and secured a move after two weeks of negotiations.

Eggen has been brought in as cover for Italian defender Lorenzo Amoruso who a few days ago had been ruled out for at least two matches following a clash of heads in a Cup win over Arbroath.
