The captain of UEFA Cup and Portuguese champions FC Porto, Jorge Costa, will be out for up to two weeks because of a left knee injury, local media reported.

The 30-year-old defender hurt his knee on Saturday during a match against French giants Paris Saint-Germain but is hopeful he will be fit for the European Super Cup match against Champions League holders AC Milan in Monaco on August 29.

"I was afraid that it was a serious injury but fortunately that is not the case and I want to return quickly," he told daily sports daily A Bola.

Costa, who retired from international football last year, has been plagued by injuries.

In 1996 he tore ligaments in his left knee during a match against Sporting Lisbon and was on the sidelines for four months.
