Makaay still Deportivo player despite Bayern bid

Dutch international striker Roy Makaay was due to take part in Deportivo La Coruna's pre-season festivities as his proposed move to German champions Bayern Munich hit deadlock, said the Spanish side's spokesman Rafael Carpacho.

"He will be presented to just like all of the other players. He is under contract to Deportivo and he has not been transferred," said Carpacho.

"There are negotiations with Bayern. These are continuing but for the moment Makaay remains a Deportivo player."

Earlier Wednesday, the Dutchman's agent Rob Jansen said that Deportivo were demanding 21 million euros (24million US dollars) for the player, who was top scorer in the Spanish League last season, while Bayern were offering 18 million.

"As the situation is, Roy will play next season with Deportivo," he said.

If Makaay is to move to Germany, the deal will have to be completed by August 15 to allow him to play in the Champions League.

It had been thought that the return to Deportivo of Uruguayan Walter Pandiani from his loan at Real Mallorca would pave the way for Makaay's departure.

"Pandiani's loan has been terminated and he is returning. This has nothing to do with Makaay," said Carpacho.

"If Makaay stays, the club will listen to offers for Pandiani."
