Charismatic Paraguayan international goalkeeper Jose Luis Chilavert has signed for Uruguayan giants Penarol, the player announced.
The 38-year-old veteran of two World Cups revealed he had signed a contract for at least a year.
Chilavert was sacked by his last club, Strasbourg, in September last year for disciplinary reasons and is currently suing the French side - for whom he scored the winning penalty in the 2001 French Cup final - for unfair dismissal and wants 4.4 million dollars in compensation.
He has also taken legal proceedings against the former club president Patrick Proisy for alleged racism
The action relates to comments by Proisy reported in the press which poked fun at Chilavert's weight - he had ballooned to 106kg, 18kg over his ideal weight - and origins.
Proisy is alleged to have called Chilavert 'Michelin Man' and spoken of 'Banana Republic practices' referring to his South American origins.
Strasbourg are also taking legal action against Chilavert for producing a false document to back up his demand for a further 2.4 million euros (2.8million dollars).
He accused the club of not paying an extra 2.4m euros of a 4.4m-euro fee he said he had been promised on top of his monthly salary.
