Everton manager David Moyes believes he has finally beaten Chelsea in his battle to keep England striker Wayne Rooney who has been linked to a string of clubs.

Moyes said the 18-year-old was ready to sign a new five-year contract.

"The indications are he'll sign in the summer and I'm happy," he told BBC Sport Online on Friday.

Rooney made his debut for Everton aged just 16 and became the youngest player to score for England - at 17 years and 317 days - after his goal against FYR Macedonia last September.
