There was no immediate confirmation from either club that a deal had been concluded but it appeared that Rooney's transfer would go through before the 3.30pm deadline for deals to be concluded within the summer transfer window.

Manchester United tabled an offer of 25 million pounds (45 million dollars) for Rooney on Saturday and the final haggling was understood to focus on how much of that money depended on Rooney and United's future success.
