France captain Patrick Vieira said he was fit to play against Israel in the 2006 World Cup qualifier this weekend.
France captain Patrick Vieira said he was fit to play against Israel in the 2006 World Cup qualifier this weekend.
"I am fit to play Saturday night. I've been training for 10 days with Arsenal," Vieira said, adding that a scan on his injured thigh had shown it was healing.
"I trained normally yesterday (Monday) afternoon. What's lacking is only match practice. But there's a week to get ready and I am confident," said the 72-times capped midfielder.
Coach Raymond Domenech said: "His presence Saturday night on the pitch is a probability."
France have World Cup 2006 qualifying matches against Israel Saturday at the Stade de France and then the Faroe Islands September 8 away at Torshvn.
