Auxerre's forward Djibril Cisse (R) is congratulated by his teammate after he scored a goal during their French L1 football match against Paris Saint-Germain at the Abbe-Deschamp stadium in Auxerre.
Auxerre striker Djibril Cisse showed France what they could be missing at Euro 2004 with his well-taken goal in a 1-1 French league draw at home to Paris Saint Germain.
The 22-year-old striker last week appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport over a five-match UEFA ban which would effectively rule him out of the European championship finals this summer.
Cisse's goal in first half injury time came after a good cross from the left by Jean-Pascal Mignot which Cisse perfectly controlled with his right foot before volleying home into the top right hand corner despite the close attention of PSG's Jose-Karl Pierre-Fanfan.
Lorik Cana however equalized in the 80th minute for PSG. Danijel Ljuboja pulled the ball back for Cana to sidefoot home to earn the capital city club a point.
It was also a welcome result for leaders Monaco.
Monaco stumbled again in their bid to win the title when they failed to pick up maximum points at struggling Toulouse on Saturday.
But after coming away from the south western city with a 1-1 draw, Didier Deschamps' side were at least comforted by news from Lens where their main title rivals Lyon were held by an identical scoreline.
That left Monaco four points clear of the reigning champions. Paris would have cut Monaco's advantage to a slender three points if they had beaten Auxerre.
Instead, PSG, in third place, are five points behind Monaco, fourth-placed Sochaux are seven points adrift and Auxerre are nine points in arrears in fifth spot.
