Chelsea's Frank Lampard celebrates after scoring against Bolton, during a Premiership match at The Reebok Stadium in Bolton. Chelsea won the match 2-0 and won the English Premiership title.
Chelsea won the English Premiership title after a 2-0 victory away to Bolton Wanderers at the Reebok Stadium.
Frank Lampard put Chelsea ahead on the hour mark and when the England midfielder struck again 14 minutes from time the Blues were on the way to their first top-flight title in 50 years and only the second in their history.
The result took Jose Mourinho's men to 88 points, 14 clear of second-placed reigning champions and London rivals Arsenal.
Even if the Gunners, who play struggling West Brom on Monday, were to win their four remaining games they would still only finish on 86 points.
Mourinho, who led Porto to the Champions League last season, celebrated the title by claiming he wants to stay at the London club for as long as possible.
"This group is very special," said the coach. "I want to stay with them for more years and talk about a new contract because my heart is with them.
"The players have a special mentality, ambition and desire. We fight, play and suffer together. We fought like lions for this title and we deserve it."
Skipper John Terry paid tribute to the fans.
"It's the best feeling I have ever had," said Terry.
"It's been a long time coming. The supporters have waited for a long time for it and they deserve it.
"We wanted to get it over with here today and we have done it."
Chelsea, in their centenary year, remained on course for a trophy treble in Mourinho's first season in charge.
They had already won the League Cup final and they face Liverpool - their beaten opponents on that occasion - in the Champions League semi-final second leg at Anfield on Tuesday with the tie still level after a goalless first leg at Stamford Bridge.
