Espanyol midfielder Albert Riera said he was interested in a loan move to English Premiership side Manchester City, dubbing the possibility "an interesting offer, though nothing has materialised yet."

Riera arrived at Espanyol last summer from French side Bordeaux but has failed to hold down a regular place.

Espanyol coach Miguel Angel Lotina meanwhile said buying Birmingham's unsettled Uruguayan striker Walter Pandiani was unlikely after the English side refused an undisclosed offer.

Pandiani rescued a point for Birmingham in midweek against Manchester United but has scored just twice since a summer move from Deportivo La Coruna.

The 32-year-old forward is expected to join Real Mallorca for around one million pounds (1.4 million dollars) in the transfer window just six months after joining the Blues.
