Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez expects to learn this week whether winger Luis Figo, seen here on July 28, will move from Real Madrid.
Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez has targetted a right-winger and a centre-back as he tries to boost the European champions' assault on the Premiership this season.
Benitez expects to learn this week whether Luis Figo will move from Real Madrid, and should the Portuguese winger agree to the deal that would leave the manager needing only a centre-back to complete his squad overhaul.
Deportivo La Coruna's Jorge Andrade is reported to be high on Benitez's list.
"I am very happy with the squad, with the way they are working in training and in matches and I am happy with the new players," Benitez told the club's official website www.liverpoolfc.tv.
"But I am still looking for a centre-back and a right winger and we need to bring these players in during the next seven days."
Figo appeared to be on the brink of a move to Inter Milan earlier this week, but that deal looks to have collapsed.
The arrivals of Robinho and Julio Baptista at Real Madrid is set to push Figo nearer the fringes of Wanderley Luxemburgo's squad, however, and it would be a surprise should he stay another season in the Spanish capital.
"I always say that a player is not yours until he has actually been signed," said Benitez.
"We have alternatives to these players and my idea is to always be looking at all your options."
