England will play arch rivals Germany in a friendly at the new Wembley stadium on August 22, the Football Association confirmed on Thursday.
The German federation had already announced the match would take place before the FA's announcement.
It will be the first meeting between the pair since England's memorable 5-1 victory in Munich in September 2001 in a World Cup qualifier.
That came just a year after Germany had won 1-0 in the last England international to be played at the old Wembley - a game that saw the end of Kevin Keegan's reign at the England helm.
It will be the last friendly Steve McClaren's men play before a make-or-break run of five Euro 2008 qualifiers which will determine whether England make next summer's finals in Austria and Switzerland.
