Sampdoria striker Francesco Flachi has been banned for 16 months after testing positive for cocaine in January, the Italian league said Thursday.

The 31-year-old had been suspended since traces of cocaine were found in his urine sample following a 2-0 defeat to Inter Milan on January 28.
