Werder Bremen's international defender Christian Schulz said on Friday he is delighted with his 1.5 million euro switch to Bundesliga rivals Hanover.

The 24-year-old has signed a four-year contract after passing his medical on Thursday, less than 24 hours after helping Bremen reach the group stages of the Champions League with a 3-2 win over Dinamo Zagreb.

With other defenders Pierre Wome and new signing Dusco Tosic above him in the pecking order, Schulz has made the switch to guarantee himself more Bundesliga football.

"I am look forward to the new challenge and I want to see Hanover do well," said Schulz.

The defender, who won the last of his three caps against Argentina in 2005, trained with his new side on Friday.
