It is hard to believe this game was played but with modern fixture congestion there appeared to be little chance of a postponement with lucrative television contracts already in place to cover a match that proved invisible.
The visit of the Spanish champions hould have been a prestigious event for the Berlin club but dense freezing fog wrapped this game in a shroud that few fans could see through and television pictures were hazy and imprecise.
The players deserve great credit for fashioning some sort of event in impossible conditions and fans showed great patience as the two teams produced a draw. In reality it was only possible to see the match action on slow motion replays.
At the end of the night Barca are still serching for their first win since October 27th and the foggy conditions did little to help any attacking play.
The Catalan club took the lead when Luis Enrique directed a far post header into the net in the 14th minute after a deep cross from the right. In such dense fog it is surprising more defensive errors did not see further goals and the game produced only one more but it was an excellent strike.
Kai Michalke met a pass from the right with a determined drive that slapped hard and low into the back of the net from ten metres outside the penalty area. This nervy game was never likely to see a satisfactory conclusion in the second half as conditions worsened further.
