Colombia win 2-1 on penalties - 2-2 after extra time

Hosts the US have been knocked out of the CONCACAF Gold Cup on penalties.

After a 2-2 draw following extra time Colmbia won a scrappy shoot out 2-1 to book their place in the semi finals.

Claudio Reyna and Eric Wynalda both skied their spot kicks and Armas and Olsen saw shots saved by Colombian goal keeper Miguel Calero.

These misses handed Colombia a place in the last four against Peru who overcame angry Honduras fans who caused the abandonment of their 5-3 loss to Peru with three minutes remaining after a pitch invasion.

The US took the lead in the 20th minute when Brian McBride headed in a clipped cross from Cobi Jones.

The hosts only held the lead for four minutes as Faustino Asprilla was on hand to finish a low cross with a firm drive from close range.

An Armas volley slapped his team into the lead with 51 minutes gone but the US could not shut out the South Americans who scored from long range in the 81st minute when Bedoya drove a left foot shot into the top corner to set up a dull period of extra time in which both sides were very cautious.
