Bayern Munich won 2-1 against Rosenborg of Trondheim in a deserted Olympic stadium.

The Bundesliga leaders are already through to the quarter finals after successive wins over Real Madrid and Mehmet Scholl hit a swerving free kick to give his side an 11th minute lead.

Paolo Sergio won a penalty in the 39th minute for a trip at the very edge of the penalty area and the Brazilian converted the chance with a low drive to the left of goal.

Rosenborg replied in the 64th minute when John Carew went to ground at the far post to edge home a low cross from the left.

Bayern's win gives them a group victory and ensures that they will play the second leg of the quarter final at home.
