First Published: Oct 25, 2000

Real Madrid won easily against struggling Sporting Lisbon.

The first goal came early in the 11th minute when Luis Figo launched a speculative shot from the edge of the penalty area that was deflected into the path of Guti at the far post to drive in.

Guti set up the second goal when he caught the Lisbon defence square to put Savio through for a neat finish.

Then returning striker Fernando Morientes took over with two goals after recovering from two months out with injury.

Morientes hit a low drive in the 60th minute and completed the scoring in the 68th minute when he found the target with a glancing header.
