Juventus had Zinedine Zidane sent off for violent conduct as frustration mounted in Turin.
Juve were unable to break the deadlock and the game was a certain draw by the time the French star was dismissed.
Zidane has a violent temper which can break out on the pitch and get him into trouble. Normally so placid, the midfield genius launched into a late challenge on Emerson in the 68th minute and saw an immediate red card.
The Liga champions had come for a draw and had no intention of advancing to try and cash in on their numerical advantage. The onus was on Juventus as the home team to impress and they failed.
On the break Turu Flores hit two good shots on target which Edwin Van der Sar saved but Juve had earlier had three chances cleared from the goal mouth in the first half.
The Italians ran out of steam in the second half and almost paid the price when Cesar Sampaio was unmarked in front of goal but he dragged his 62nd minute finish wide with a miskick.
