Norway 2 Bulgaria 1

First Published: Apr 25, 2001

Norway can thank midfielder Oyvind Leonhardsen for the two goals that won this Oslo friendly.

The Norwegians recent form has been very poor and they are bottom of their World Cup qualifying section and they needed to come from behind to win this match.

Bulgaria took the lead when Marian Hristov cashed in on nervous defending to run onto a back pass by defender Christer Basma and the Bulgarian forward drove low into the net.

But Norway always looked likely to get back into the match and the Tottenham player equalised in the 74h minute when he was well placed to head in and curled a fine shot on the run less than a minute later to win the game.
