Glasgow Rangers hope to sign Dutch international midfielder Ronald De Boer tomorrow.
The Scottish champions want to beat the deadline tomorrow night for registration of players in the Champions League add Dutch manager Dick Advocaat has already approached De Boer who is keen to quit FC Barcelona. A £7 million package is being put together to sign the 28 year old.
Talks are ongoing between the player's agents and the Glasgow club.
The player is with the Dutch squad in Hoenderloo where he is preparing for Saturday night's 2002 World Cup qualifier against Ireland.
The creative centre of the Dutch midfield, De Boer dictates the pace of their attacking play when fit. De Boer has outstanding ability from dead ball situations as well. Relied upon by the national team to deliver the crucial pass to the strikers, he has seen a move to Barcelona go bad after a foolish and arrogant strike to end his Ajax contract at the end of 1998 with his equally wrong headed brother. Injury problems meant his form at Euro 2000 was patchy.
