African champions Cameroon have offered German coach Horst Koppel the chance to lead them at the World Cup finals next year.

Koppel was part of the German coaching team at the 1986 World Cup finals when the then West Germany went all the way to the final in Mexico City.

The 53 year old is working with Borussia Dortmund with young players at the moment and says the Cameroon federation have made an official approach for the duration of their World Cup campaign.

The Cameroon federation have already sacked Jean-Paul Akono and Pierre Lechantre so far this year with Akono getting the sack after winning the Olympic title and Lechantre ditched shortly after gaining World Cup qualification.
