Bolivia coach resigns

First Published: Jul 26, 2001

Bolivia coach Carlos Aragones has quit after their Copa America exit.

His federation decided to kep their coach in his job on Tuesday after meetings but Aragones resigned last night.

Bolivia lost all three matches at the Copa America, did not score a goal and lost 4-0 to Costa Rica in their final match last week.

They also have little chance of claiming a place at next year's World Cup finals in Korea and Japan.

By ending his eighteen month spell in charge, Aragones becomes the seventh coach of the ten competing nations to lose his job since World Cup qualification in CONMEBOL started last year.
