Boehme leaves sad Germany squad

Schalke 04 midfielder Joerg Boehme has quit the national team squad for their two 2002 World Cup qualifiers in the next seven days after his wife miscarried.

The DfB have released Boehme who played for Germany for the first time last night in their 2-0 friendly win in Bremen over Slovakia.

he 27 year old was told the tragic news after the match and will miss the trips to Finland on June 2nd and Albania on June 6th.
