Celta to give Kaviedes squad status

First Published: Oct 26, 2001

Celta Vigo have agreed to let Ecuador midfielder Ivan Kavieddes replace Croatian veteran Zvonomir Boban in December as a non-EU player.

Kaviedes was reduced in first team chances by the arrival from Milan of Boban but the Craotian has now decided to retire freeing a place for another non-EU player in the Celta squad.

Spanish league rules allow only three non-EU players at any one club.

He has remained a regular for Ecuador's national team as they move close to World Cup qualification next month.
