France started their World Cup season with a 1-0 win over Denmark in Paris.
Robert Pires scored an excellent goal in the 15th minute when he won the ball in midfield with a challenge and charged on to drive a low shot into the net from the edge of the penalty area.
France failed to capitalise on this lead though and created few other chances but they were content to dominate midfield and keep the ball from Denmark with Zinedine Zidane and Patrick Vieira producing fine displays in a low key performance.
