More good news for Brazil in CONMEBOL World Cup qualifying came with the 1-0 defeat of Colombia at home by Peru.

Brazil beat Paraguay 2-0 and have seen rivals Uruguay and now Colombia lose to improve Luiz Felipe Scolari's chances of taking one of the four automatic places for the 2002 finals in Korea and Japan.

Colombia are sixth in the South American group and trail Uruguay by two points. Brazil now lead Colombia by five points.
