Iran all but ended Slobodan Santrac's reign as Saudi Arabia coach with a 2-0 win Tehran.

Saudi are now struggling to reach the World Cup finals and Yugoslav Santrac is likely to be fired at the weekend.

In the run up to the defeat by Iran Santrac was absent from training leaving his assistants in charge and his side had to face an intimidating 100,000 crowd of Iran fans cheering on captain Ali Daei.

The Hertha Berlin forward hit both goals in the second half.

His first came in the 54th minute from a penalty awarded for a trip in the penalty area and he sealed the win ten minutes later with a low drive from the edge of the penalty area.

Saudi are fourth in a five team group and have yet to win.
