2002 World Cup - Singapore 1 Kuwait 1

First Published: Feb 06, 2001

Singapore needed an equaliser four minutes from the end to avoid defeat against Kuwait.

The home side had Noh Alam Shah to thank for the draw after weaved past four players in the Kuwait defence to score from a narrow angle.

The group four Asia zone game was quiet in the first half but Singapore were forced to chase the game after Kuwait found a lead to protect from the 61st minute after a low drive from Bashar Abdullah.

Earlier in the day Bahrain beat Kyrgyzstan 1-0 after losing to Kuwait at the weekend.

Yusuf A'Amer reached a cross from Ghazi Majed in the 86th minute to stretch and steer the ball into the net.
