2002 World Cup - Saudi Arabia 6 Mongolia 0

First Published: Feb 15, 2001

Saudi Arabia hammered six goals past Mongolia for the second time in a week in Dammam.

The Saudis now top their Asia zone World Cup qualifying section after their fourth win in a row.

Current coach Nassr Al Johar is to be replaced next month by Yugoslav Slobodan Santrac but his players are giving him a great send off.

Sami Al Jaber - who hit three goals against Mongolia in his last match - started the scoring in the 20th minute with a drive from the edge of the penalty area and the Mongolian defence collapsed with further goals from Mohammad Al Shlhob, Talal Al Meshal and Obeid Al Dossary before half time all from close range.

Mohammad Al Khilaiwi drove in for the fifth goal in the 76th minute and Al Dossary claimed his second in the 86th minute with a shot on the run to end Mongolia's misery.
