First Published: Jun 06, 2001

Germany remain in control of group nine after a comfortable and efficient win in Tirana.

Marko Rehmer hit in a low drive in the 28th minute and Michale Ballack scored with a hot on the run in the 68th minute to kill the game.

But Carsten Ramelow was sent off for elbowing Edvin Murati in the 34th minute which was helped by an over reaction from the Albanian player in an incident that also saw the home player red carded.

Germany host England on September 1st in their next match and a win will see them through to the finals.
