First Published: Jun 21, 2001

Costa Rica outplayed Jamaica in Alajuela to move second in the CONCACAF qualifying group.

The Costa Ricans are now on ten points from five matches and trail leaders US by three points.

Costa Rica had a great start when Luis Marin scored from a corner but Onandi Lowe equalised in the tenth minute with a low drive.

Paolo Wanchope scored the winner in the 38th minute when he steered in a low cross. Jamaica failed to make any impression on the home defence and have slipped behind Honduras and trail a qualifying place for next year by three points.
