Scotland were subdued in the end by Nigeria but started very well in Aberdeen.
New caps Robbie Stockdale and Kevin McNaughton combined down the left in the 6th minute and created a corner kick chance which Christian Dailly headed in from a Scott Gemmill corner kick but Nigeria slowly took control of midfield.
The Scots had no answer to the creativity of midfielder Auston Okocha and he helped set up Julius Aghahowa for a neat finish after putting the striker clear for an unmarked run at goal.
Nwankwo Kanu had helped Okocha's domination of possession and forced a great save midway through the first half from goalkeeper Rab Douglas with an excellent rising drive.
Agahowa had gone close twice before heading the 75th minute winner when he reached a cross to glance it in after a well-timed run.
